My Comment on a Gujarati Poem
Friends,
Find below my comment on a Gujarati Poem “મારા પિતાજી” written by Mr. Vijay Shah (Houston – USA) on “Father’s Day”.

Bahlool Dana, a Gem in Rags
As promised in my earlier post “A true story of an insane, but sane person!”, I am going to talk about Bahlool Dana (the Wise) today. Bahlool (real name – Wahab bin Amr) was a well known judge and scholar from a wealthy family in Iraq in the times of Haroun Al-Rashid (786 – 809 A.D), the Abbasid Caliph. He was the disciple of the Shi’ite Muslim’s 6th Imam Hajarat Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) and he was alive also during the Imamate of the 7th Imam Hajart Musa Kazim (a.s.). Haroun Al-Rashid feared for the safety of his Khilaphat and kingdom from Hajarat Musa Kazim (a.s.) and he planned to destroy him. He put the blame of rebellion upon the Imam and appointed a batch of Jury from Chiefs of the capital to prove the charge. All of the Jury members were the ‘Yes-men’ of the Caliph except Bahlool. He did not vote against the Imam and thus became the enemy of Haroun. The Imam was imprisoned on ground of majority votes.
Here, Bahlool Dana was afraid of punishment of the Caliph and contacted the Imam in prison to seek guidance for what to do. The Imam told him to act insanely for life time, create an image of Lunatic among the people and be outspoken to carry on his mission of educating people to follow the virtuous path of truth. Bahlool, under the acting of insanity, fired the Caliph himself and his Courtiers also. The people acknowledged him for his superior wisdom and excellence. Even today, many of Bahlool’s stories are narrated in assemblies and valuable lessons of life are being taught to the listeners.
Exposition of an English Poem of my Choice
While chatting on Internet, I chanced to pick an English poem written by William Blake titled as “A Poison Tree”. Following is the link of the original poem being exposed here. My Readers might click it if they are anxious to go thereat.

The poem in discussion here is based on ‘Anger’, a human’s very weak sentiment of behavior which if controlled; the half problems of human life might be calmed down. There is no any difference between Anger and Alcohol (wine) as both make us forget our wisdom when we are under their influence.
The poet is angry with his friend for some reason. He complains to his own anger and seeks guidance what to do; but to his surprise the anger itself calms down. The reason behind this outcome is that the anger is with the friend and the friend is his own fellow. Thus the anger melts down itself instead of growing more because they both are one in two.
My Comment on a Short Novel in Gujarati
Mr. Vijaykumar Shah of Houston (USA) is my good friend. “What to mention and what not for him is a great question to me.” are my words in my earlier post “William’s Tales – 2nd Anniversary with 100 Posts”. He had invited me as a guest blogger on his blog “વિજયનું ચિંતનજગત” and some translated Articles had been published there. He is very active with a group of Gujarati friends in Houston to serve our Gujarati language and literature.
Mr. Vijaybhai is a renowned Gujarati Writer also. Among his many publications, “Poo. Motabhai” is a Short Novel written in form of letters as an experiment. I had put my comment (criticism) on it. Today, I am pleased to represent it here just to highlight its importance for those who have settled abroad for preservation of own culture.
A true story of an insane, but sane person!
Sanity and insanity are such complicated states of mind which cannot be separated as water tight compartments from each other. In general, we may say that if anybody behaves in such a manner which is socially acceptable, he or she is considered to be sane. Here, we may raise an interesting issue as who would decide socially acceptable behaviors. We find a number of societies in the world and every society would have its own criteria of acceptable behaviors. One more question stands before us waiting for our answer as who would recognize sanity. Can we rely on insane people to define sanity as sane people define insanity? Obviously not! Psychologists have defined ‘sanity’ as soundness of mind that can make best judgments of the situations and authentic opinions about individuals and accordingly they re-act. Similarly, they have defined ‘insanity’ as extreme foolishness or follies of their actions.
My attempt here in this post is to bring a very interesting real story of a person who looked to be insane at the first sight. He not only looked so, but his behaviors, his talks, his life style and many more characteristics were abnormal. He argued in such a way that his words looked to us philosophical. His talks were always very brief, but concrete to convey what he meant to say profoundly. His life styles of particularly for his dress-code and food habits were untidy, dirty and creating disgust in our mind.
Roll of Tongue for Creation of the World more Peaceful!
This post follows to my earlier Article – Human’s Ungratefulness towards the Creator of the Worlds. I had discussed there the functions and usefulness of the three limbs of human body – ears, eyes and brain. Today, I am before you with ‘Tongue’ as my subject of the post. Just before to proceed on, I’ll remind my Gujarati Readers a well known Gujarati writer named Jyotindra H. Dave for his humorous literature. I’ll draw kind attention of them towards his light essay titled on “Jeebh (Tongue)”. It was a humorous Article, but the Author had indirectly conveyed his many more messages related to human behavior and character.
But, I am here in my serious tone to write something precisely, straightway on ‘Tongue’ with no any satires or sarcasms. The Creator of the Worlds has bestowed the human with his numerous blessings. When we ponder over the limbs of human body, the ‘tongue’ would look special. All the limbs save this ‘tongue’ get tired when we take excessive work from them, but tongue never aches or gets tired while speaking. Even in dream or while the brain recalls one’s days activities in sleep, the tongue starts to speak in unclear and murmuring tone of speech which we may call it as prattling.
Some well thought witty Q&A
This post follows to my previous one “Time-pass Crazy Q&A”. Here, you will read some ‘quality not quantity’ – material just to sharpen your intellect. This product has resulted from my own thinking from moments to hours in dim light at midnight. Some questions arose in my mind have been answered by myself with my intuition after my short-medium-long well thinking process or some from my studies. They have been kept safe in my memory for years and I disclose the same today before my valued Readers just for entertainment or acquiring knowledge.
